Style by Evan

Fear will never allow you to thrive, so be brave, live your life, and do YOU. If you’re not doing something to make a difference in this world, then what the FUCK are you doing?

Why did you start your business?

I was in my mid 40’s and the thought of spending my life playing canasta and eating chopped salads was repulsive. I needed to start doing something that was meaningful to me. Fashion and style were always a big part of my life. I decided to become a “personal stylist”.... and here I am. I somehow wound up styling a photoshoot in Havana which later became a hugely wonderful part of my life. :) I’m still figuring it all out, but I’m glad that I began this journey. ❤️

Biggest Achievement so far.....

Producing two fashion shows in Havana, Cuba. Leading 3 Fashion & Arts tours to Cuba. Becoming a writer for Start-Up Cuba & other media outlets. Co-designing a line of leather gloves, manufacturing them in Europe, and selling them to private clients. Dressing and styling private clients both male and female for events, everyday purposes, etc. Being quoted and written about in international newspapers both in print and online.

Greatest Lesson Learned....

Never give myself or my resources away. Know my worth and value all that I have achieved on my own. Never ever allow myself to be taken advantage of in any situation especially with business. Don’t discount what I do or myself unless it’s part of a greater plan. Get references for all future guests before allowing them to come on my tours. Get everything in writing. Challenge yourself as much as possible ... keep learning.

Person, Place or Thing that inspires you

My son Jonah inspires me. He’s an incredible photographer and a few years ago was diagnosed with a rare eye disease. He’s been to Cuba with me twice. Jonah has won national awards for his photography there. He founded YMA a nonprofit for teen photographers from all around the world. Jonah is kind, smart, witty, gentle, and savvy. He’s a leader and he will change this world for the better. I am in awe of him.
